Mauritius is a country that enjoys a mild climate that ensures splendid weather all year round. Being located near the tropics this ensures that the winter is not that cold and therefore provide excellent conditions for swimming. On the other hand the summer season is not that warm due to the fact that Mauritius is an island and enjoy the refreshing sea breeze.

There is only two seasons in Mauritius with the summer season running from November to April while winter goes from May to October. Mauritius climate : Summer

The summer season can provides to temperature up to 35C and provides for a rise in the humidity level. But the effect of this temperature is cool down by the generally windy conditions that are characterized by this time of the year. In the summer we can also expect the heavy rain that is present in tropical island but will usually only last for a few hours.

The only problem in the summer season is that Mauritius is sometimes vulnerable to cyclones in these months. The cyclonic season is the most active in January and February but the cyclonic weather conditions will only last for a few days. Mauritius has their own system of cyclone warning which is hailed as one of the most performing in the Indian Ocean and will help to keep the tourist safe and secure. Mauritius can boast itself of having one of the most suitable climates of all the popular holiday resorts.

Winter

During the winter season the temperature can falls to 15C on the Central Plateau (the highest point of the island) but the sea temperature will remains at 24C ensuring good swimming conditions. There is no snow in Mauritius. During this time of the year which coincides with the summer season of the northern hemisphere it is the off-peak season in Mauritius and usually hotels run promotional periods where hotels prices are reduced. This time of the year is indeed an interesting time to visit the island.
